Great Ocean Road II

Mittlerweile sind wir in der Apollo Bay, weit unten im Süden. Von hier geht’s der Great Ocean Road nach weiter ins Surfzentrum Torquay und zum Wochenende sollten wir dann in Melbourne sein. Gestern haben wir in der Nähe der 12 apostles Halt gemacht und auf einem ganz einfachen Zeltplatz bei Princetown übernachtet. Der Wind blies die ganze Nacht und zwischendurch hat es richtig heftig geregnet. Die „locals“ sind froh darum, denn sie leiden alle noch unter dem zu heissen und trockenen Sommer. Von dort sind wir heute durch eine richtig schweizerische Landschaft gefahren. Durch endlose Wälder, Hügel rauf, Hügel runter, Kurve um Kurve. Einzig, dass der Wald riesig grosse Eukalyptusbäume hat (für die Interessierten: es gibt etwa 700 Arten von Eukalyptus und der Baum wächst in allen Klimaregionen hier). Apollo Bay ist eine grosse Bucht mit guten Wellen für Surfer. Aber die Hauptsaison ist vorbei, es sind nur wenige im Wasser. Vielleicht auch, weil es hier doch eher kühl ist und auch regnerisch. Adesso siamo ad Apollo Bay, un piccolo paese con spiaggia lunga. E un posto per fare il surf, ma non ci sono tanti in acqua. Forse anche perche fa freddo e piove ogni tanto. Ieri abbiamo visto le famose roccie „12 apostles“, sono belli da vedere. Il viaggio oggi ci ha portato nelle colline, quasi come in Svizzera. A parte che qui i boschi sono pieni degli alberi eucalyptus. We are spending our time now at cool, windy and rainy Apollo Bay. Yesterday we visited the „12 apostles“, together with all the other tourists. We spent the night near Princetown with a lot of wind and a lot of rain, today we drove through the Otway Park and the scenery was like Switzerland: hills, curvy roads and the forest. Only that the forests here are filled with gumtrees. There are not many surfers in the water at Apollo Bay, most probably due to the cold and wet conditions.
